Europe's most flexible ethanol plant
The French alcohol producer Ryssen Alcools SAS has been part of the CropEnergies Group since 2008. With this step, activities on the French market were expanded.
Ryssen Alcools' activities are divided into two areas: In addition to the dehydration (drying) of raw alcohol for the fuel sector (capacity: 100,000 m³ per year), Ryssen Alcools is a specialist in the purification (rectification) of raw alcohol for traditional and technical applications. The high-quality products are flexibly adapted to the wishes of customers in the beverage and cosmetics industries as well as the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. In this field Ryssen Alcools has a capacity of up to 90,000 m³ of ethanol per year.
The production facilities are logistically conveniently located in the port of Dunkirk. From there, the refineries in the ARA area (Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp) can be supplied quickly and cost-effectively. In addition, both trains and tank trucks can be loaded and unloaded at the site.
Ryssen Alcools was founded in 1829 as the Fauconnier family business. The company had been part of Südzucker's subsidiary Saint Louis Sucre since 1979 and was fully owned by the latter in 2006 before being acquired by CropEnergies in 2008.
